We, at Unleashed Women’s Network, have often addressed the issues of gender equality and female underrepresentation in the boardroom. Being advocates for women entrepreneurs, we are an official partner of Global Entrepreneurship Week as our core message has always been to Motivate, Empower, Encourage, Educate and Connect women worldwide.
What exactly is Global Entrepreneurship Week? First of all, it is the world’s largest campaign to promote entrepreneurship: it encourages the next generation of entrepreneurs to consider starting up their own business. The week lasts between Monday, the 17th, and Sunday, 23rd of November.
Moreover, today – the 19th of November, is Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (WED), which was founded by Wendy Diamond, in partnership with Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW). The day is an opportunity to celebrate, engage and empower female entrepreneurs: it is about creating a climate where women feel empowered to start businesses, generate growth and prosperity. Best part is, as it is a worldwide event, it does not matter where in the world you are if you want to visit, as over 150 countries are taking part.
Furthermore, the choice of events is quite diverse. For instance, Virgin’s StartUp Ignition is an all-day event in London, focusing on what’s important when starting a business. Or, alternatively you could pay a visit to Success in the City – Women Entrepreneurs Conference 20 November 2014 – a conference for women entrepreneurs who may be starting out in business. You can register for the event here: https://enterprise-catalyst-success-in-the-city-conference.eventbrite.co.uk#sthash.4xxON7em.dpuf .
However, you could visit similar events in the United States, Brazil and Botswana, to name but a few. Here is a full list of countries that are taking part in WED: http://www.gew.co/list-countries .
For the ones based in the UK, on Friday, the 21st, is the GEW Closing Party – a free event that Celebrates British Entrepreneurship. It is taking place at Runway East, in the heart of London’s Tech City, and is organised by Indiegogo.
